Questions
What happens to transparent areas?
JPEG has no transparency, so anything see-through is filled with the background color you choose. White is the usual answer; pick the color of the page it will sit on if that is not white.
Why is my converted file larger than the PNG?
Because the source is a screenshot, logo or diagram. PNG compresses flat color and sharp edges extremely well; JPEG does not. Keep those as PNG — JPEG only wins on photographs.
Which file types can I use?
