About Salary Converter

Conversions run through a weekly figure using your stated hours and working weeks, so part-time and reduced-year contracts come out right. Everything shown is gross — before income tax, national insurance or social security, pension contributions and any other deduction, which together commonly take 20–40%.

Questions

How many working weeks should I use?

52 gives the contractual annual figure. Use 46–48 if you want an effective hourly rate that accounts for paid leave and public holidays, which is the fairer comparison against contract work.

What does the per option change?

It offers 5 choices — Hour, Day, Week and Month and more. The default is Hour, which suits most cases; change it when your input or your destination calls for something specific.

What are the limits on hours per week?

It accepts 1 to 168, starting at 40. The other numeric controls have their own ranges: working weeks per year 1–52.

Is the arithmetic exact?

It uses double-precision floating point — about 15 significant figures, far more than the inputs justify. Displayed rounding is cosmetic; the underlying numbers are not rounded between steps, so chained results do not drift.
